The Best Hot Chocolate Recipe

If you are feeling extra indulgent or fancy (as it should be), you can add to your Hot Chocolate half-and/or double the amount of heavy cream right before serving.

 

 

This Hot Chocolate recipe will serve 4 people

 

3 tablespoons of cocoa powder (preferably Dutch-processed) plus additional for serving

 

3 cups whole milk

 

6 oz semisweet chocolate finely chopped

 

3 tablespoons demerara sugar or granulated Sugar

 

 

Whipping cream lightened with honey (for serving).

 

Preparation

 

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, bring 3/4 cup of water to a boil over medium heat. Add 3 tablespoons. Cocoa powder should be mixed until there are no lumps. Add milk to the mixture and bring it back to a boil. Mix in the sugar and chocolate. Continue to cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until smooth and creamy.

Step 2

Divide hot chocolate between mugs. Add whipped cream to the top and sprinkle with cocoa powder.
